Chicago International Longwood—Highlighted Campus
Chicago International Longwood, located at 1309 W. 95th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood, draws students from throughout the South Side of Chicago. One of the first two Chicago International Charter School campuses, CICS Longwood opened in August 1997 and is the only Chicago International campus to span the entire kindergarten to 12th grade continuum. There are 1,479 students on campus; 98% are African American and 2% are Latino. Chicago International Longwood currently encompasses three schools within the one campus: Elementary (K-5), Junior Academy (6-8), & Senior Academy (9-12).
Strong leadership in conjunction with a high-quality academic reputation and an expanse of opportunities, Chicago International Longwood routinely has a waiting list equal to or greater than the actual enrollment. This year, both enrollment and waiting list are over 1,400 students. CICS Longwood has become a beacon on the south side for families committed to a quality education for their children.
The four-year graduation rate for the senior class is routinely over 90%, with the five-year graduation rate at 100%. Additionally, four seniors from the class of 2007 (current freshmen in college) earned full tuition scholarships from the Posse Scholar Foundation. Out of 1,300 nominated Chicago Public School students, 70 earned full tuition scholarships. With one of the smallest senior classes in Chicago Public Schools (60 of 15,000 seniors), Chicago International Longwood accounted for 5.7% of the scholarships awarded.
As the largest single site campus within the Chicago International Network, CICS Longwood offers an array of over 40 extra-curricular activities including:

- Newspaper groups
- Mentoring for boys and girls
- Art Club
- Yearbook Committee
- Student Council
- Drum Line
- Drama

In addition to these enhanced learning opportunities for our students, there are multitudes of award winning sports programs that have led to recognition of Chicago International Longwood as one of the premier charter schools for student-athletes in Chicago. To top off our uniqueness, CICS Longwood boasts stellar teachers, support staff, maintenance and administrators who go above and beyond their expansive call of duty. This has manifested through years of academic achievement and social well being for all students entrusted in our care.
